Overview

Walking in the Ngorongoro Crater is one of Tanzania's most extraordinary wildlife experiences. On foot with an armed ranger, you become part of the ecosystem — not a visitor looking through a window, but a quiet presence moving through a landscape shared with lion, elephant, and wildebeest.

Day by Day

The Itinerary

Drive from Arusha to the Ngorongoro rim. Check in to your lodge and walk to the crater viewpoint for your first sight of the caldera below — 19 km wide, 600 metres deep, home to 30,000 large mammals. Evening crater briefing with your ranger: animal protocols, what to do if a buffalo charges, and the extraordinary crater ecology.

"Twelve days, three parks, one lifetime. Aya read us better than we read ourselves — every camp, every meal, every silence, placed exactly where it should have been."
